Gerardo Arellano is the inaugural director of the Raza Resource Centro, one of the six community centers at the University of Californa, San Diego. He got his B.A. from UC San Diego and attended UC Berkeley for his Ph.D. in comparative ethnic studies. He studies transborder culture, migration and de-colonial pedagogies. In his role at the Raza Resource Centro he provides counsel supporting strategic planning, curriculum design and program development, as well couching students to develop their careers and achieve there goals regarding scholarships, internships and research. In the interview he describes his early interest in history and telling his own-story, and how that took him to an amazing academic career and his current position in UC San Diego.
